Lehi Youth Peer Court
The Lehi Youth Peer Court is an alternative to the Juvenile Court System for first-time youth offenders committing minor offenses. It provides the offender a second chance, yet holds them accountable for their actions. The court is run by Lehi Junior High and Lehi High School students with support from adult volunteers. The offenders must stand before a jury of their peers, admit guilt and accept whatever sanctions are imposed. It takes approximately 20 students as well as many adult advisors to run court each week. Students are given the opportunity to participate in many important court positions, including lead juror, jury member, bailiff, secretary, clerk, case presenter, and entry coordinator.
